Quick and kid-friendly delicious easter treats!

Easter is a great time of year to get baking, so why not try this super simple Easter nests recipe! Made with just chocolate and Shredded Wheat cereal, this recipe is an Easter favourite and is pretty cheap to make too! What's more, it makes a decent amount per batch, so there's plenty to go around with friends and family over the long weekend!

My Notes:

This has to be, by far, one of my all-time favourite Easter recipes! This is something that I've been making since I was a kid (I remember making them with my Brownie group!), and is great for getting family involved. Plus, it only needs 3 ingredients - chocolate, cereal and mini eggs! This is what's great about this recipe, its so simple and you can use variations of these ingredients to suit you, such as by using your favourite milk chocolate or swapping mini eggs for a different Easter egg decoration!

Serves: 16 Easter Nests

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cooking Time: No Cooking!

Allergies: Contains Dairy (milk chocolate) & Gluten (wheat)

Ingredients:

300g Milk Chocolate

125g Shredded Wheat Cereal

200g Mini Eggs

Method:

  1. Carefully melt the chocolate in a pan or bain marie then take off the heat.

  2. Crush the Shredded wheat and add to the melted chocolate.

  3. Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases and, using the back of a teaspoon, press lightly in the middle to create the nest shape.

  4. Place 2-3 Mini Eggs in the middle of each nest.

  5. Chill the nests in the fridge for around 2 hours to set, then remove and enjoy!

My Tips:

  1. There are no specific brands required for the ingredients in this recipe - use your favourite milk chocolate, a Shredded Wheat alternative (especially if you want to make it gluten-free), and use a different kind of Easter chocolate egg!

  2. Theres no real set amount to put in each nest, so go for what feels right to you! Remember, however, that adding more in each nest will result in less overall.

  3. Want to make it dairy-free? Try with a dairy-free chocolate alternative!

  4. When crushing the cereal, I like to place the Shredded Wheat into a sandwich bag and press with either a rolling pin or simply the end of some cutlery!
