A super simple snack that you can customise!

Marshmallows treats are a classic and are one of the quickest and easiest to make! With just a handful of common ingredients, these simple squares are great as a snack or for a party. Plus, you can make them your own by adding your favourite toppings or ingredients into the mix so you can try something new each time you make it. It's also great for fussy eaters and kids as they can make their own!

My Notes:

I was really shocked at how fast and easy this recipe is to make and, as a result, it has quickly become one of my favourites! This marshmallow treat recipe takes me around 10 minutes to make and then it just needs some time to set and you're done - so easy!

Ingredients:

5oz/140g Marshmallows

1oz/25g Butter/Stork

2oz/50g Rice Krispies

Choice of Extra Fillings (Optional)

Choice of Toppings (Optional)

Method:

  1. Line a baking tray (9x9 inch) or food-safe box with baking paper.

  2. Carefully melt the marshmallows and butter either in a pan or the microwave. Stir well to ensure the ingredients are completely combined.

  3. Add the Rice Krispies and mix well until they are fully covered.

  4. Optional - Leave to cool for a few minutes then add any extra fillings to the mix.

  5. Pour the mix into the lined tray and evenly spread out.

  6. Optional - Add your chosen toppings.

  7. Leave to set in the fridge for around 1 hour or until hard.

  8. Remove from the fridge, take out of the baking tray and cut into pieces.

  9. Enjoy!

Tips:

  1. One of the best things about this recipe is how flexible it is - you can use any kind of marshmallows you like (big, small, pink, white, blue, mini or even homemade marshmallows) and any kind of Rice Krispie cereal (branded or supermarket-own).

  2. You can also add whatever toppings or filling ingredients you like! For mine, I added some chocolate chips to the mix and then on top I used mini marshmallows, M&Ms and sprinkles. I like this combo as it is fun and colourful, but also gives a nice change in texture. You can also add layers of other ingredients such as melted chocolate. Here are some ideas for you to try out:

    1. Chocolate Chips

    2. Melted Chocolate

    3. Smarties

    4. Peanut Butter

    5. Chocolate Spread/Nutella

    6. Nuts

    7. Marshmallow Fluff

    8. Favourite Chocolate Bar (Crushed)

    9. Coconut Flakes

  3. If you want to make more or less, you can! Simply double or half the recipe and you can make as many as you like!

  4. I cut mine into 8 even rectangles, but feel free to make your pieces as big or as small as you want.

  5. You can use any size baking tray or food-safe box, just be aware that this might spread the mixture out more so will change the thickness of the pieces.

If you do decide to try out this marshmallow treat recipe for yourself, I'd love to see some pictures of your unique creations!
